A Wanaka developer of a new salmon ‘fish-out’ facility has complained Fish & Game NZ opposes the project to protect its own commercial interests. Graham and Hayley Lee were granted resource consent last November for their operation along Cameron Creek where they plan to offer the public a chance to catch chinook salmon from large ponds. Their consent application is opposed by Fish & Game .Lee has questioned the organisation’s motives. “The true reasoning for Fish & Game’s objections to the development is to restrict competition for the recreational dollar,’’ Lee claims.
