It seems the Hound item last issue about MIE not paying its bills set off even more calls to the kennel tip line about the lack of financial rigour by the meat industry ginger group.
One concerned tipster rang to alert your old mate to the fact that, according to the Companies Office register (under Societies and Trusts), MIE has not filed an annual return – as they’re legally required to do – since 2013. A quick scan of the Companies Office website by yours truly confirms this, with 2013 being the last time MIE filed an annual return and 2014 an annual report. However, MIE has received around $300,000 of Beef + Lamb NZ funds since then, which should have been included in an annual return had it been filed since the funds were received. But, as yet, no return has been filed.
